Dragon Ball Super: Will Future Trunks Return? (SPOILERS AHEAD)

For those that don't know the Dragon Ball series is alive and well. The adventures of Goku, Vegeta and company have been updated with Dragon Ball Super. The show picks up a few years after the conclusion of Dragon Ball Z, showing the Z Fighters traveling across the galaxy. Anyone that has watched Dragon Ball Super should realize that Dragon Ball series creator, Akira Toriyama, has created another masterpiece. Despite some of the errors in animation, it has been a great return to what made DB great. Also, there could also be the return of a very popular character: Future Trunks.
Future Trunks has been a favorite of many fans of the Dragon Ball series. He entered the scene as a unknown character who could transform into the legendary Super Saiyan. Trunks slew the tyrannical Frieza by chopping him into bits with his sword, then he would finish off Frieza's father, King Cold, with an energy beam directly through the chest. Little did everyone know, he was the future son of Vegeta and Bulma.

Pretty violent right? Definitely. Trunks has been a relentless character from his first appearance. Even though this is the case, he does it to protect the people that he cares about the most. He comes from a future that is horrendous and many people have been murdered by the Androids and Cell. He goes to the past so that they can be prepared for the horrors that they could possibly be faced with in the future.
Trunks would eventually go back to his own timeline and resolve the Android and Cell issues respectively. His comrades were killed in battle years before and Trunks could not revive them due to their deaths occurring over a year ago. It is presumed that Trunks created peace in his own timeline and rebuilt many of the cities and towns that were destroyed.
According to Toriyama, a very popular character of the Dragon Ball series is set to return. However, he was very cryptic as to who the character was:
Toyotaro: ‘"’ve read the plot for the new story, and I’m really happy a certain future related character is going to be involved. I’m a huge fan!"
Toriyama: "That’s a pretty popular character! The kids are going to be happy."
In other words, get excited and wait for one of the most popular characters to return.

Episode 38 Title: ‘Universe 6’s mightiest warrior! Meet the assassin Hit!!’
It’s a martial art tournament between Universe 6 and 7, with earth hanging in the balance. Vegeta’s final opponent is Hit, the strongest man in Universe 6. Hit is so laid-back it’s terrifying, and seeing this Vegeta realizes he must be strong. In fact, Hit is renowned as the greatest assassin in Universe 6...
There two versions of episode 39's title and here they are.
Version 1:
Episode 39 Title: “A fully developed ‘Time-Skip’ counterattack!? Is it coming!? Goku’s new technique!"
Vegeta squares off against hit using his Super Saiyan blue form, but Hit uses his ‘Time-Skip’ technique to repeatedly attack Vegeta where it hurts, knocking him out cold. Trying to figure out the trick behind Hit’s ‘Time-skip’, Son Goku likewise challenges him in his Super Saiyan Blue form.
Version 2: ‘ Hit Improves, Goku declines’ ( provisional title)
Hit has the ability to skip time ahead just one tenth of a second. Goku counters this ‘Time-Skip’ by predicting what will happen 0.1 seconds later, but Hit continues to improve as the battle wears on. And so Goku busts out/ breaks the seal of Kaio-ken and fires a Kamehameha.
Ep. 40 Title: “The Conclusion “
The tournament against Universe 6 for the fate of the earth has finally come to a close. Furious at Hit and his teammates for losing, Champa tries to destroy them. As Cabba and others is Frozen in terror, someone enters the ring...
So what we find out is that Universe 7 wins because of Goku and his wits (ironically). We shall see how the rest of the series plays out and many should be excited.
