What If: Edge teamed with Jeff Hardy?

There are times in life when we ask ourselves “What if?” We often wonder what the outcome would be if certain things went differently in life. Today I'm bringing you a new topic, “What If…?” This topic will let our writers talk about their fantasies in sports, entertainment, shoes, music, etc. In this installment, I am going to talk about Pro Wrestling. Questions like what if Brock Lesnar never left the WWE? What if Sting came to the WWE 10yrs ago? What if Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit never died? Cool questions right? Now I'm going to tell you a major “what if” I always think about. What if there were no Hardy Boyz and no Edge & Christian? Instead, imagine Edge was paired with Jeff Hardy from the start.

First things first, Edge and Jeff’s tag team would have to be named Rated Xtreme. Would they go on to win the Tag Team Championships multiple times though? You also have to wonder who would've been hanging from the belts at WM 17 if Edge and Jeff were on the same team? These are a few questions I ask myself. I could see the tag team moves for team “Rated Xtreme” now. Picture picture Jeff giving someone a Twist of Fate and Edge lining up for the spear as Jeff gets on the top rope for the Swanton Bomb. That seems pretty cool if you ask me.

I picked these two because they were the most popular members their respective teams. I haven't met anyone that dislikes Jeff Hardy or Edge so I feel like they could have been a popular team. I just can't stop imagining the things these two could've done as a team, I mean they could've been big. If HBK and John Cena could be tag champs, I know damn well Edge & Jeff Hardy could have had a run. Now I have a couple of questions I could ask, if Jeff Hardy & Edge were to break up, who would have had more success as a singles wrestler?

Jeff Hardy is a six time world champion. He's held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship three times, the WWE Championship once, and the World Heavyweight Championship twice. Hardy also racked four Intercontinental Championship reigns and he captured the Light Heavyweight and European Championships once apiece. That’s not all, Hardy was able to win the Hardcore Championship three times making him the eighteenth Triple Crown Champion (a wrestler that holds at least three championships) and the tenth Grand Slam Champion (holding every title at least once) in WWE history. Jeff was able to rack up 15 total solo titles in his Pro Wrestling career.

Meanwhile, Edge is an eleven time world champ. He was able to win the WWE Championship four times and the World Heavyweight Championship seven times. Edge was also able to win the Intercontinental Championship five times and the United States title once. In 2001, he was able to win the King of the Ring tournament. Edge was the first Money in the Bank winner and holds a Royal Rumble victory on his resume. These achievements made Edge the first wrestler in history to win all three events. Edge was able to rack up seventeen singles titles during his career. Unfortunately, Edge’s career was cut short due to a neck injury that forced him to retire in in 2011. In 2012, Edge was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame cementing a truly remarkable career.

Jeff Hardy has yet to retire, who knows if he'll win another world title again. Edge has him by two titles, but again Edge’s career was cut short while Jeff is still active. If I had to choose a performer to take from this team I would choose Jeff. Jeff still as a couple years in him and there is no telling what's in store for the extreme icon.

This alliance opens up a host of other questions too. If Edge and Christian and The Hardys were never together, where would Christian and Matt Hardy end up? Would either of them ever be in TNA? Would Christian or Matt Hardy ever been ECW champ? Where would these two end up? I have my thoughts but hey, at the end of the day it’s all “what If?”

Have any dream scenarios about sports, music, sneakers, or literally anything else? Leave them in the comments we can discuss them.
