Expectations Versus Your Reality

Expectations. A strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. The moment we’re born our parents expect certain goals for us to reach throughout our life. How would life be if we weren’t expected to do anything? If we could just make each and every decision on our own.

Everyone is expected to go to school, graduate, and then either go to college or start a career. Once you’re on your feet you’re expected to buy a house, get married and have kids. Why is this? Now granted, school is very important so I do encourage you to graduate and go to college if you choose, but once you’ve finished celebrate life! Why is it that we can’t really live? We’re expected to be a plain Jane and just sit around and work a 9-5 Monday through Friday then, off for the weekend but you still won’t really do anything but go to the market then right back in the house. People focus too much on bills and stress rather than enjoying life while managing work.

I think people need to be more spontaneous in life. I don’t think people really understand, once you’re born you have one life to live. You will not have another chance to do anything over. You will never have the chance to be a kid again so make sure your kids enjoy the hell out of their childhood. That’s the only one they’ll have and they look up to you as a parent to make sure it will be one they want to remember. Enjoy your teen years because like your childhood, you’ll only have those seven years to enjoy it. As for your adulthood, you may live to have plenty of years to try different things but at the same time, what if you don’t?

Everyone questions the purpose of life from time to time. Now I tried to create some meaningful saying to say what the purpose of life is but honestly I couldn’t come up with anything. I feel that way because life just happens. When you plan something, the unexpected happens anyway which throws off your whole plan. So why not live spontaneously? People really have got to stop living out their dreams vicariously through their kids. If you didn’t achieve that dream then push yourself to make it a reality for you. Everyone should be able to live their life as they want.

Life is like a book. There’s a beginning, a middle and an end. Once that book is published, there are no do overs. The author controlled everything that happened in that book. Make sure you’re writing your own story and not someone else’s. The pen is always in your hand no matter what. Please notice I used the word pen instead of pencil. You can erase with a pencil but with a pen once it’s written it stays forever. Yeah you can scratch it out but that scratched out line will remain there forever. It’s a new year people!! Write down a goal that you want to achieve for yourself and do it!!! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you!
